Plaque and Calculus
Plaque
is made up of colonies of bacteria. These bacteria
become mineralized by the action of the sialic
acid contained in saliva and by a combination
of enzyme activity and metabolic substances, such
as calcium and magnesium. Through the years, people
have thought the main reason for Gingivitis
or Periodontitis was neglect; implying
that the care given to the gums and teeth is insufficient
and that poor oral hygiene resulted
in the failure to remove bacteria from
teeth and gums.
What has been discovered in the
course of researching the destructive process
of gingivitis or periodontitis,
is that gum problems are not caused solely by
these colonies of bacteria but by a series of
specific phenomena that must be dealt with in
a way that is something other than what has always
been done. The adage, “Keep doing what you’ve
always done, and you’ll get what you’ve
always gotten”, couldn’t be more true
than when dealing with dental health issues. It
was discovered through this research that the
solution to the problem was to make it difficult
or impossible for bacteria to stick to the surface
of the teeth, thereby limiting or preventing
the formation of plaque, and ultimately
calculus. Until now, even the “best”
oral care has not been able to accomplish this
because the goal of ordinary dental hygiene
products is to kill bacteria (good and
bad) and sanitize or mask the rest of the symptoms.
This method simply does not work very well in
the long term prevention of plaque and calculus
formation.
What Will Prevent Gum Problems?
Obviously none of the standard products work.
They only serve to treat the symptoms of the real
problem. And yet, consumers continue to wash their
money and good dental health down the drain. To
prevent gum problems from occurring in the first
place, find a way to keep the surfaces of the
teeth from allowing anything to stick to them, and
neutralize toxins in the mouth. Sound simple?
If this were easy, people would not continue to
have this age-old problem that has proven difficult
or impossible to treat effectively and permanently.
This is how a New-Age Product - Cuprident
with MCC® works to lessen gum problems:
If
the formation of unhealthy substances
(Plaque, Calculus, and Sulfur Compounds)
on the teeth and below the gum line can be minimized,
health of the gums is enhanced. Cuprident
is designed to stop plaque formation before it
gets started and lessen the conditions that cause
gum problems in the first place.
Cuprident does not completely eliminate plaque
formation, but is clinically proven to have a
significant effect in reducing it. Clinical
trials with Cuprident favorably suggest that
the MCC® copper complex is associated with overall
improved conditions in the mouth. Cuprident is
designed to attack those conditions, which bring
about unhealthy consequences for the gums and
mouth. Because bacteria cannot easily stick to
MCC® treated surfaces, this process offers three
potential benefits:
-
Since bacteria cannot stick to the surface
of the teeth, plaque is reduced.
-
Copper hinders the polymerization of the
sialic acid found in saliva, preventing the
formation of the sticky polymers (pellicile)
that lead to both sticky plaque and calculus
formation.
-
Calculus cannot form unless plaque sticks
to the teeth.
Additionally, the copper in Cuprident
combines directly with certain bad smelling sulfur
compounds and catalytically oxidizes others bringing
about a noticeable favorable difference in "Bad
Breath" (Halitosis). Most “Bad breath”
is caused by sulfur compounds that are found “hiding”
among the tiniest of spaces in the mouth and on
the tongue, far back in the mouth. The MCC® in
Cuprident has the ability to alter the
environment of the mouth and make the formation
of these compounds difficult, destroying their
ability to cause odors. Cuprident does
not destroy the microbes in this treatment; there
are many beneficial bacteria in the mouth, necessary
for good health. These are known as the "normal
flora" and are needed to maintain a normal
equilibrium for health in the mouth. Destroying
bacteria upsets this process. Cuprident
overcomes the "bacterial problem" without
killing the bacteria, thereby maintaining the
natural and healthy equilibrium, and the plaque
that causes tissue damage is avoided.
In
the case of gingivitis, bleeding gums, loose teeth,
accumulation of calculus, and bad breath, it
is highly recommended that you consult with your
dentist for removal of calculus from the teeth
below the gumline. Many dentists have prescribed
and used Cuprident in their practices to
prevent calculus formation, and as a treatment
after gingivectomy, as well as treating a variety
of dental disorders.
Completely natural, alcohol and fluoride free,
Cuprident with MCC® offers improved dental
health without the use of toxic antibacterial
agents.
